Where Faith is Grown

Ever find yourself in a place of searching but not sure which direction to look?

What do you do?

I am sharing a few thoughts in today's video blog. Below I've listed a few key verses of scripture as well as some actionable tips.

Psalm 13 NLT: O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.

Key Scriptures (NLT):

Matthew 7:8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Psalm 13: O Lord, how long will you forget me?

Psalm 18: 29-31: In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock?

Taking Steps of Faith:

What do you need? Are you clear on what exactly you are looking for? Take a few moments to look at the "thing behind the thing." Often what we are searching for is something deeper than the immediate fix we think. Are you looking for hope to be restored? Passion? Do you miss a deep connection with Jesus you once had?

Where are you looking? Are you looking to others to fulfill what only God can do? Have you developed tunnel-vision in regards to your own life? Are you living within an imagined box of limitation? Lift your eyes and look around. Are your circumstances limiting your search? What could happen if you looked beyond them?

Who are you talking to? Are the people in your life lifting you up and turning you to Jesus, or jumping into your chaos with you and stirring the pot? We won't find what we are searching for by complaining, blaming and avoiding. We need healthy feedback. Have you looked to see what Jesus says about your situation? Consider talking things out with a pastor, a trusted Christian friend who won't fix, or even a Christ-centered counselor.
