God opened a door.
I walked through it.
It shut securely behind me.
And then....
nothing.
No other door has opened.
No windows either.
I. Am. To. Wait.
I. Am. To. Focus...
on what's in front of me
on what's going on all around me
on this step, not the next one,
or the one after that,
or the one after that.
In the hallways of life, the waiting is the hardest part.
We can't affect the timing of the opening of another door,
but we can choose what we do while we are waiting.
I am learning that.
I am learning I can complain, worry and plan, but that ultimately it
drains me
takes me away from peace
steals any hope I have in God's goodness.
I can instead choose to
remember God is good, all the time
believe God is still working
trust He is in control and knows better when to open the next door than I do.
When I focus on those truths,
I am hope-filled
I anticipate what His goodness will bring
It becomes well within my soul.
How will you choose to wait in the hallway today?
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
