The Best Planning Tool I've Ever Used

This time of year there are literally hundreds of posts, Facebook and Twitter Ads and store-based sales all wrapped around one concept: helping us make 2017 our best year ever.

Over the years I have tried many different planners and goal-setting systems to help me achieve my best year ever. Most have great wisdom and advice but in the end I always revert back to this one tool I have been using since my college days in the 90's.

It's a tool I originally developed to keep me sane during a particularly busy season I was in my last year of college, taking more upper division classes than should have been allowed and working a part-time job as well as volunteering at a local middle school in order to earn my secondary teaching credential. It was an absolutely CRAZY year, but somehow, this tool kept me on track so that I never left a bill unpaid, I never missed a class, I was always on time for work and I always had my planning assignments ready to go, in addition to still somehow managing to shower daily, hang out with friends and get some sleep.

This tool has carried me through not only college craziness, but the craziness of taking on a new career while planing my wedding, working as a teacher while managing a newborn, adjusting to at-home life with two kids in an unknown place, and balancing entrepreneurship, writing, parenting, self-care and marriage in the years since.

It has single-handedly saved my sanity in some of the most chaotic times of my life.

What is this tool?

It is my Schedule Tracker Planning System. and it works. How? By giving me a clear picture of how much time I have, where all my time is being spent, and a clear path to make the changes I want to make. No matter what season of life I have been in (I am now in the one-kid-in-college, one-kid-at-home-not-driving-yet-but-incredibly-busy, dual-business-entrepreneur, taking-care-of-everything-at-home-still, have-a-travelling-husband, there's-gotta-be-more-than-this season of life) this tool has given me the ability to assess my situation, discern where changes need to be made and then kept me on track as I turn changes into habits that have changed the trajectory of my life.
